Cooling is necessary for plastics processing, a large amount of heat is produced in the material, mold or machine, that must be removed during production. For example plastic injection, plastic extrusion (shape extrusion or contour extrusion), bottle blowing and blown film and etc.

The thermoplastic materials such as polypropylene, nylon and PET must be heated to their melting temperature before being molded. When melted, they can be manipulated (injection molded, extruded, etc.) into new shapes. Finally, they must be cooled to set the shape.

Plastic process water chillers are used to cooling the injection molding, blow molding, extrusion or stamped thermoplastics to maximize productivity and improve quality.
